Claims in respect of requisitioning of railway materials.

The two Skoda locomotives included among the seven covered by Invoice No. 003 referred to in paragraph 3 (1) of the despatch referred to above, have reached here from India in a knocked-down condition and are being set up by the Kowloon- Canton Railway for return to the Chinese Government at the expense of the local military authorities.

2. I should be grateful therefore for very early information as to action taken to deal with the claims set forth in the despatch, including those by this Government. The Jardine Engineering Corporation is being pressed by the Chinese Government on the matter.
